Abstract
The surgical instrument forms a tunnel in body tissue, to accommodate stimulation electrode wires etc. It comprises an oblong shank adjustable by hand to suit the body shape, and a point piercing the tissue at one end. A grip is provided for shank manipulation, and a tube of material with a low coefficient of friction fits over the shank to aid movement through the tissue. The grip can be offset from the shank in one direction, and a driving lug can be provided to pass the electrode wire into position.
