Abstract

1,160,780. Labelling machines. M. CILIOTTA. 26 July, 1967 [27 Jan., 1967], No. 34376/67. Heading B8F. A continuously rotating label magazine m is reciprocated to deliver a label to be attached to an article b carried on an endless conveyer n when the article deflects an arm d acting through a switch and a solenoid e to operate a latch. The passage of articles is timed, e.g. by a screw v. The magazine may apply the label directly to the article (Fig. 2, not shown) or, alternatively, may deliver the label to a roller r to which it is secured by adhesive from a reservoir 1 and from which it is peeled by a blade f for application to the articles as they are rotated by a belt c. The magazine is reciprocated by engagement of a cam 2 fast with it against a plate 12 provided this has been locked against movement by the electro-magnet e because an article has deflected the arm d. Labels may be delivered from opposite ends of the magazine alternately. Safety devices.-In the form illustrated the bottles b roll in engagement with a resilient surface g carried by a wall h which yields if the bottles jam.
