Abstract

1,146,349. Labelling bottles and like articles. W. PECHMANN. 13 Dec., 1966 [20 April, 1966; 4 Nov., 1966], No. 55838/66. Heading B8F. Articles 19 are rotated as they are carried through a circular path 18 so that they first touch and adhere to the edge 32a of a label in a stack and then recede from the stack as the remainder of the label is brought into contact with the article. In the form illustrated bottles 19 are rolled along fixed guides 31 by an elastomer-covered wheel 38. The bottles receive adhesive either from a roller 43 or from a conveying roller 47 by which they are delivered from a belt conveyer 46. The labels are finally pressed against the bottles by an elastomeric guide 54. The shoot 13a, 14a in which the labels are stored is vibrated by a mechanism 35. The labels in the shoot are pressed against retainers 32a, 33a by a presser plate 16 engaged by projections 25 of chains 21 driven from an electric motor through a slipping clutch.
