Abstract
1,160,564. Reciprocating pumps. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N. V. Oct. 7, 1966 [Oct. 11, 1965], No.44936/66. Heading F1A. A reciprocating pump for delivering liquefied gas from a vessel 2 to a circulating system includes two concentric chambers, defined by tubes 6 and 9, which surround the piston rod 18. Liquefied gas is delivered to the circulating system through a first chamber surrounding the piston rod and having an outlet 17 and returned from the system through an inlet 12 to the second chamber defined between the tubes 6 and 9. The second chamber is provided with apertures 15 for return of liquid to the vessel 2 and an outlet 13 for vapour, arranged above the inlet 12, and communicating with the atmosphere through a jacket 21 filled with heat insulating material, e. g. sponge polystyrene. The pump may be constructed of stainless steel and driven by an electric motor 20.
