Abstract

1,159,668. Spray carburetters. BENDIX CORP. Sept. 6, 1966 [Sept. 20, 1965], No.39827/66 Addition to 1,157,875. Heading F1B. An offset choke valve 30 is urged closed by a spring 80 and opened by a device 99 responsive to exhaust pipe temperature, and acting through lever 100 which is connected to the choke lever 112 by a link 114. At cold starting the linkage is in the position shown with the pivots 118,120, and 122, substantially in a straight line whereby the valve is positively held from opening under the effect of the air flow. A slight toggle action may be obtained by arranging the pivot 120 slightly to the left of the line joining the pivots 118,122, at cold starting. Upon a rise in temperature after starting, device 99 moves lever 100 past the toggle dead centre and the effect of the air flow on the valve 30 then assists the device 99 in opening the choke valve.
