Abstract

The bobbin supporting device Fig. 1 is a tubular 'body in which are two plates 5 and 6, these plates being pivotally connected at 10 and the plate 6 being the longer in that it has an upper end providing oppositely projecting parts 7, 8. When a bobbin is pushed up it raises a ring 20 and a rib 24 therein engages part 7 to raise the plates 5 and 6 such that they swing into the tubular body and rest on a pin 9 as in Fig. 3 with the part 8 projecting from the body. The bobbin can then be removed. When the next bobbin is pushed' upwardly the ring 20 is again raised until it contacts the part 8 and lifts the parts 7, 8 off the pin 9. Lowering of the bobbin then permits the parts 7, 8 to move outwardly as in Fig. 1 to grip the bobbin. The tubular body rotates on ball bearings 23 and has a brake disc 12 acted on by a spring 14. By turning a nut 17, a screw 16 is rotated in a threaded member 3 and this varies the compression on the spring 14. The upper end of the screw 16 may have graduation marks 19 so that all the screws 16 in the creel can be set to the same value.
