[Also in Divisions F2 and H2] A device for potting pipe, conduit, or (as shown) cable joints comprises two interfitting coaxial pod members 10, 12 having cylindrical body portions, access to the interior of which is effected via an aperture in each body portion. The end 16 of member 10 is expanded to receive the corresponding end of member 12. Member 10 comprises a funnel-shaped aperture 18 and member 12 comprises an air-vent aperture 20, while both members have hollow ridges 22, 24 adjacent their apertures. Remote ends 14 of the members are of flexible material and tapering, being cropped off at positions which ensure a sealing fit around a respective cable 40. The cables are retained centrally within the members by annular spacer members 35 which have a plurality of radial spokes to engage the cables (Figs. 3, 6, not shown). Potting material, such as a quick-setting resin, is poured into the members through funnel 18. When the potting material has set, the aperture mouths 18, 20 may be removed, or the entire pod members 10, 12 may be cut away. In a modification, the members are longitudinally slit and are wrapped around the joint and sealed before potting.
