A glove, mitten or a lining or interlining therefore has a palm panel A and a back panel B connected together at least between two fingers or between the thumb and forefinger by two connecting strips, such as C, D, which prior to making up of the glove etc., have either been separate from each or joined by a narrow bridge piece (Fig. 4 or 5 not shown) and are joined to each other at end portions of substantially complementary shape to form a male-female joint. The re-entrant portion 5, 9, 8 of one strip, such as C, includes a smaller angle than that formed by the corresponding portion 5, 9, 8 of strip D. The end portions may be rounded instead of angular at 9. The back panel B of a glove is preferably wider than the palm panel A and may be joined directly to the palm panel from the wrist at the thumb side to at point 2 on the inside of the thumb and by means of connecting strips C-F over the fingers and down to the wrist at the little finger side. A conventional mitten (not shown) would have the male-female joint between the thumb and forefinger, the connecting strip which extends from the base of the thumb up the forefinger continuing at least to the top of the little finger on the panels being joined directly to each other apart from the thumb/forefinger connecting strips. Suggested materials for the palm and back panels are leather, or a leather substitute and for the connecting strips, string net, leather or a material different in colour or texture from the palm and back panels which need not be of the same material as each other and may be perforated for ventilation. The front panel may be elasticated at the wrist.
