Abstract

1,158,890. Rolling plastics foil. WERNER & PFLEIDERER. 5 July, 1968 [21 Sept., 1967], No. 32350/68. Heading B5B. Plastics foil is produced from plastics material by a process which comprises introducing plastics material into two zones each at an end of a co-operating set of rollers and transferring it to a centrally disposed rolling zone of the set of rollers, the material entering in directions parallel to the rolling axis of the rollers, and then withdrawing the rolled plastics foil. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, two rollers 1 and 2 are subdivided into 3 zones by stop plates 3 and 4. Plastics material is passed from the two outer feed zones 6 along adjustable guide elements 5 to the central take off zone 7. At least one of the rollers, e.g. 1 is stepped so that the diameter of the outer portion 8 is less than that of the central portion 9. Plastics foils less than 0À5 mm. thick can be obtained by adjusting elements 5. The material transfer can also be effected by means of apertures in the separating plates 3, 4. In another embodiment, the stop plates having apertures therein are fitted only on the ends of the rollers and the plastics material may be fed to the apertures by means of a screw conveyer.
