Abstract

1,158,831. Tablet dedusting apparatus. MANESTY MACHINES Ltd. 19 Dec., 1967 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1901/67. Heading F4X. Excess dust or loose powder is removed from the surface of compressed tablets by a suction air stream in a tablet dedusting machine wherein the tablets introduced via inlet shoot 28 pass through a horizontal rotary mesh cylinder 44 incorporating a helical feed screw 53 and exit via outlet shoot 33. A casing 10 having a sealingly removable perforate top cover 35 houses the cylinder 44 and has an orifice 31 in its funnel-shaped floor 30 to which a suction pipe is connected and through which the entrained dust &c. is removed. A motor 14 drives a driving roller 18 having an outer sleeve 21 which in turn drives the cylinder 44 composed of a stainless steel or nylon sleeve 45 by frictional engagement therewith. The cylinder 44 is fitted with an annular end cap 46 and an end sleeve 51 constituting roller tracks 50, 52 for supporting idler rollers (25, Fig. 2), 26 and four further rollers 43 carried by two leaf springs 39 attached to the top cover 35.
