Abstract

1,158,697. lsomerization of humulone to isohumulone. ATLANTIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE Ltd. 30 April, 1968 [2 May, 1967], No. 20446/68. Heading C2C. The isomerization of humulone to isohumulone is carried out by contacting humulone, in a liquid medium and at elevated temperatures, with a catalyst comprising a cerium salt and/or at least one salt of a bivalent metal, such as magnesium, calcium, cadmium, nickel or manganese. The isomerization is preferably carried out at a pH value below 9, especially between 4 and 8, over a period of from 2¢ to 15 minutes.
