1,128,298. Isomerisation catalysts. KURASHIKI RAYON, K.K. 10 Nov., 1965 [17 Nov., 1964], No. 47781/65. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] An isomerisation catalyst is prepared by supporting a phosphonic acid on a carrier consisting essentially of silica and' a metal oxide, calcining the supported catalyst at 700 to 1100‹C. for at least 2 hours, extracting the calcined product with water to remove soluble substances and finally drying at a temperature below 1100‹C. The silica may be present as diatomaceous earth, silica gel or pumice and the metal oxide may be Al 2 O 3 , TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , or MgO. The catalyst may be used in a fixed or fluidised bed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1069044.
