[Also in Division C7] A magnetic shield, magnetostrictive transducer, permanent magnet, or transformer or choke core comprises a self-supporting magnetic body comprising an alloy of elements selected from Co, Fe, Mo, and Ni electroformed from a suitable electrolyte containing quinoline ethiodide with or without saccharin, as stress-reducing additive so that the body has a stress of less than 10,000 p.s.i. tensile. The body may be of laminated construction comprising at least two layers of the above electroformed alloy separated by a film of magnetically insulating material, e.g. formed from an albumin solution or by electrolytic or atmospheric oxidation.
