Abstract
1,157,003. Sanitary napkins. RIEGEL TEXTILE CORP. 6 Sept., 1966 [17 Aug., 1966], No. 39851/65. Heading A5R. [Also in Division D2] In a wrapper for a sanitary napkin loosening or matting of the fibres of the cover which comprises sheet material formed of hydrophilic, flat, ribbon-like, aerated fibres of regenerated cellulose of generally collapsed multicellular form is prevented by impregnating the web during manufacture, and while it contains at least 60% moisture, with a water-solublepolymer that enhances the natural bonding of the fibres without adversely affecting their dispersibility. The treatment may be applied between the press-section and the first drier of a paper machine, by spraying, dipping, immersing or kiss-roll application. Suitable polymers are methyl-cellulose. ethylcellulose gelatin, soluble starches, dextrin, water-soluble, gums, polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The sanitary napkin comprise a fluid-permeable wrapper of sotreated cellulosic fibrous sheet material, enclosing an interior pad of dispersible fibrous absorbent materials e.g. fluffed wood pulp or creped wadding or creped tissue.
