Abstract

1,156,934. Aryl hydrazines. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 5 Sept., 1966 [4 Sept., 1965], No. 39541/66. Heading C2C. In a process for the manufacture of an aryl hydrazine or salt thereof an aqueous solution of an aryl diazonium compound is introduced into an aqueous solution of sodium bisulphite and sodium sulphite at a temperature above 40‹ C., the reaction mixture is subsequently maintained at a temperature of not less than 80‹ C. and the reaction product is treated with an acid. The examples relate to the preparation of phenyl-, p-tolyl-, 3-chlorophenyl-, p-trifluoromethyl-phenyl-, 4-sulphophenyl-hydrazine hydrochlorides and 1-sulphonaphthyl-2-hydrazine hydrochloride.
