Abstract
1,156,723. Silicone rubbers. BENDIX CORP. 29 June, 1966 [12 July, 1965], No. 29237/66. Heading C3T. A rubber stock, heat curable to a resilient rubber having a hardness of not greater than Shore A40, is made by mixing together (a) a methylvinylpolysiloxane gum containing submicron silica (e.g. fumed silica) (b) a methylvinylpolysiloxane gum having some of the vinyl groups replaced by 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl groups and containing sub-micron silica (e.g. fumed silica) (c) a metal oxide buffer (d) a heat stabilizer and (c) an organic peroxide curing agent. Ingredient (b) may be replaced by two components one being the gum free from silica and the other being the gum containing silica. Specified components are:-for (c)-a mixture of silica, a calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, alumina, sodium oxide and potassium oxide; for (d)-red iron oxide or a mixture thereof with black iron oxide, ferric oxide monohydrate, carbon black, ferric octoate and barium zirconate; for (e)-di-tert. butyl peroxide, butylperoxyisopropyl carbonate, benzoyl peroxide, 2,4- dichlorobenzoyl peroxide and 2,5-bis(butyl peroxy)-2,5-dimethylhexane.
