Abstract
1,155,151. Knot-tying device. ZELLWEGER Ltd. 2 Feb., 1967 [15 April, 1966], No. 5091/67. Heading D1C. In a knot tying device in which a yarn gripper 7 moves around a stationary mandrel 6 and approaches the mandrel axis, the rate of approach corresponds to the rate of winding yarn onto the mandrel. This prevents yarn being pulled through the gripper. The gripper is pivotally mounted by an arm 13 at one end of a rotatable sleeve, and makes three revolutions about the mandrel for each revolution of the main shaft 5. The opposite end of the sleeve has a groove 26 in which a fork 27 is engaged. A cam 30 acting via a bolt 28 and the fork 27 displaces the sleeve, and hence the gripper axially of the mandrel. The end 14 of arm 13 is urged against arm 15 also pivoted on the sleeve. The end 19 of the arm 15 engages in a cam track of wheel 20 which is so designed that the part of the mandrel onto which the yarns are wound forms the evolute of the path followed by the gripper. The gripper thus approaches the mandrel at the desired rate.
