Abstract

1,154,349. Electric timepieces. PORTESCAP, LE PORTE-ECHAPPEMENT UNIVERSEL S.A. Sept. 6, 1966 [Oct. 7, 1965], No.39889/66. Heading G3T. A torsion oscillator for an electronic timepiece comprises two parallel torsion blades 1, 2 fastened rigidly at their ends to a common support 3 which is fixed to a plate 4 of the movement by pillars 5, 6, each blade bearing at its centre an arm 7, 7<SP>1</SP> provided at one end with an electromagnetic vibration sustaining device 8, 8<SP>1</SP> and at the other end with a counterweight 9, 9<SP>1</SP>. The arms oscillate in antiphase so that no vibrations are transmitted to the timepiece movement. The central portions 1a, 2a of the blades are twisted through 90 degrees and the ends of the blades are welded to arms 3c, 3d of the support 3 or the blades may be made integrally with the support. Each device 8, 8<SP>1</SP> comprises a permanent magnet mounted on its respective arm and co-operating with fixed control and drive coils connected to a conventional transistor circuit to maintain the oscillation of the arms. In a modification, two flat blades are fastened to a support in the shape of a rectangular frame and the arms attached to the blades oscillate in a common plane.
