Abstract

115,390. Symons, A. B. Dec. 21, 1917. Turning.-A lathe tool-holder is hinged to the slide carrying it, so that the tool may be swung out of the way for gauging the work &c. In a preferred form, the tool-holder M is cylindrical and rotatably adjustable through a small worm and worm wheel, and is carried in a housing L longitudinally slidable on a carrier F, hinged at H to the cross-slide E, and having stops at F<4> to limit its tilting motion. Micrometer adjustments. as shown at R, are provided for the housing L and the cross-slide E. A small surface plate S on the housing L, level with the lathe centres, assists in adjusting the height of the tool.
