Abstract

June 5, 1917. limbs, artificial.-In a control for a kneejoint, the thigh and leg portions 1, 2 are pivoted together at 3, and a check lever 6 enters a pocket in the thigh portion and engages a pin 5 by means of a groove. The lever is recessed to receive a spring-pressed pawl 8, pivoting on the pin 5, and adapted to engage the upper edge of the leg portion and lock the leg in the straight position. The check-lever is surrounded by a spring and enters at its lower end a leather socket 14 supported by a cord 15 from the leg. The pawl or pawls 8 is or are pressed by the fingers to allow articulation about the knee pivot.
