1,152,445. Photographic developing and drying apparatus. CHIRANA ZAVODY ZDRAVOTNICKE TECHNIKY, OBOROVY PODNIK. Aug. 16, 1966 [Sept. 3, 1965], No. 36533/66. Heading G2A. An apparatus for developing and drying film - strips comprises a motor driven drum 3 provided with a helical guideway on its curved outer surface, into which guideway an exposed film is inserted by a charging device 12 in darkness; a developing tank 1 into which the loaded drum is lowered, the tank then being closed by a light tight cover 2 so that the rest of the sequence of operations can take place in daylight; a filling funnel 16 and an outlet tube 17 which are used to supply developer and fixer in turn to the tank; and an infrared heater 28 which is used to dry the fixed film, the drum being returned to the position shown after fixing. The drum is rotated to allow of insertion of film, and is rotated at a higher speed while drying takes place. Vanes inside the drum act as baffles to deflect air to the undersurface of a fixed film while drying takes place. The drum is mounted on arms 5 of a frame carried by the tank 1.
