Abstract

Roller mills.-Relates to roller mills in which one of the rollers is mounted in spring-cushioned sliding bearings, and comprises an arrangement of springs for cushioning the inward as well as the outward movement of the movable roller. The sliding bearings g of the movable roller y are each secured to a rod n which passes through a bracket e, a single spring s, for cushioning the outward movement, being arranged between the bracket and the bearing, and a; pair of springs t, for cushioning the inward movement, being arranged between the bracket and a bar u on the rod. The spring s is two, three, or more times as strong as the pair of springs t. The rod is secured to the bearing by nuts o, m, and the spring s extends between a recess in the bracket and a collar r. The compression of the spring s and the distance between the rollers x, y are adjusted by nuts p. The compression of the springs t is adjusted by screws q. The roller-shafts v, w may be geared together or, as shown, may be driven independently by pulleys z, 1. The rollers x, y are concave and convex respectively.
