Abstract

1,152,112. Telegraphy. SIEMENS A.G. 5 May, 1967 [6 May, 1966], No. 20956/67. Heading H4P. In a telegraph exchange system of the type in which the subscribers are connected by way of a common multichannel line, so that a subscriber may communicate with another by marking with each data pulse a combination of channels which is unique to the receiver, each transmitter TS is connected to a respective first gate unit EW. The first gate units are connected in a plurality of first groups, each group being in series with a respective second gate unit ZW. The second gate units are connected in series to gate unit HW by way of a calling line. If a transmitter TS in a first group of ten has data to transmit it enables gate AG and inhibits gate UG in the associated unit EW. It also enables AG and inhibits UG in the unit ZW, associated with the group of transmitters, by way of OR-gate ZMG which is connected to each transmitter in the group. The output of ZMG also passes to an OR-gate HMG, connected to each of the OR-gates ZMG. The output of HMG enables AG and inhibits UG in unit HW. When a call-up pulse arrives from AIG it therefore passes via gate AG of HW, through any enabled gates UG in the units ZW preceding that in which UG is inhibited, through AG in that unit ZW, through any enabled gates UG in the units EW preceding that in which UG is inhibited, and through AG in that unit EW to the transmitter TS. The transmitter can transmit only on reception of a calling pulse. If none of the transmitters associated with OR-gate HMG has data for transmission the call-up pulse passes via UG in unit HW to the unit HW associated with a similar arrangement to that described above.
