Abstract

1,098,894. Telegraphy. SIEMENS A.G. June 22, 1966 [June 23, 1965], No. 27808/66. Heading H4P. In an exchange system in which communication between subscribers takes place by way of a multiple line, i.e. a line in which each bit of a data signal energizes a combination of channels, the subscribers are divided into low and high activity groups. Corresponding groups of magnetic core connecting sets are provided in the exchange, and each set can receive data from any subscriber but can transmit only to any subscriber in the corresponding group. When a subscriber Tnl wishes to transmit it sends dialling pulses to a setting- up unit ZES which selects a free connecting set Z/E in the group ZVS of such sets corresponding to the called subscriber, adjusts that connecting set to energize a binary decimal combination of channels SV2 unique to the called subscriber Tn500, and adjusts the calling subscriber circuit KS 1 to energize a binarydecimal combination of channels SV1 corresponding to the selected connecting set. The binary-decimal coding is transformed to decimal for application to the connecting sets, and the binary-decimal from the connecting sets is transformed to decimal prior to application to the called subscriber circuit KE500. The various multiple lines SV1, SV2 and EV may each comprise separate lines or a single line carrying several frequencies.
