Abstract

In an international network which comprises switching centres of varying degrees of importance and in which each centre includes processing equipment for sending and receiving data over signalling channels separate from the message channels, as in Specification 1,040,833, each centre is provided with a library of identification signals, conveniently termed labels, for association with the signals relating to a particular message, such labels being divided into blocks and being characteristic of the blocks from which they are chosen. Specification 25731/64 which relates to alternative routing in accordance with traffic and other conditions is also referred to.
