Abstract

1,151,512. Laminates. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS Ltd. 8 March, 1967 [12 March, 1966], No. 10944/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Division G4] A method of bonding an absorbent cover 8 to the impervious body 2 of a fluid logic element comprises applying a first coating of thermosetting synthetic resin to the cover and curing it by heating, then applying a second coat of resin to either the cover or body after which they are pressed into mating contact while applying heat to cure the resin. The coatings are applied by doctor blade, roller or dabbing applicator to a thick run which ensures that none of the resin exudes into fluid channels 3, 4 during the process. Cover 8 is of paper, cardboard or cloth and body 2 is of brass or moulded synthetic resin. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the cover is reinforced by an auxiliary cover-plate bonded as described above. In another modification (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) a stack of pneumatically interconnected logic elements are bonded together by this method.
