Abstract

1,150,820. Stamping. ELPAG AG CHUR. 23 Aug., 1967 [1 Sept., 1966], No. 38876/67. Heading B3Q. [Also in Division B5] Preformed articles, e.g. tubular heaters, are compressed isostatically by placing a number of them in a container 4, charging granular material, e.g. sand, steel balls &c., into the gaps between the articles and compressing the articles by pressure fluid. After charging the container with the articles and granular material it is placed in a cylindrical reinforced chamber 1 which is then housed within a reinforced frame 7 mounted on wheels 11 running on rails 12. High pressure oil is fed into the chamber by an oil pump 18 and feed pipe 14, and passes through openings in the container wall; a return pipe 13 leads oil to a sump. The granular material is supplied from a hopper (23), Fig. 2 (not shown), to the container mounted on a spring supported table (20) vibrated by a motor (21).
