Abstract
1,150,524. Electrotherapeutic apparatus. DYNAPOWER SYSTEMS CORP. OF CALIFORNIA. 20 June, 1967, No. 28460/67. Heading A5R. ' lectrotherapeutic apparatus for treating a patient with pulsed high frequency radiation comprises an input source 18 of pulsed high frequency energy in the megacycle range which is connected via a network 28 and the core of a co-axial cable 29 to the primary coil 12 of inductively coupled primary and secondary coils 12, (13) contained in the treatment head 15, (10), the network: having a variable capacitor 27 for tuning the apparatus and being contained with the input source in a console 41 while the secondary coil in the treatment head is connected to a non-adjustable capacitor (14). As described, the pi-network includes a further variable capacitor 26 and the treatment head includes an indicator lamp 50 inductively coupled to the primary and secondary coils. The treatment head (10) (Figures 3, 5, not shown) is supported on an arm from the console and the variable capacitor 27 is adjusted via a cable (45) by a knob 40 on the control panel of the console. The high frequency energy comprises pulses (Figure 2, not shown) of signals at 27.12 megacycles, the amplitude of the signal and the intervals of the pulses being variable.
