Abstract
1,150,256. Feeding sheets. J. BOBST ET FILS S.A. 28 July, 1967 [29 July, 1966], No. 34877/67. Heading B8R. Sheets 7 are separated from the bottom of a pile by a reciprocating plate member 1 provided in its upper surface with at least one suction element 17 movable between an elevated position, shown on the left in Fig. 4 in which it grips the sheet to be separated and a retracted position (on the right), in which it holds the sheet against member 1. Member 1 reciprocates horizontally to feed the sheet, the suction to element 17 being interrupted, at the latest, on completion of the feeding stroke. The suction element may be coupled to a vacuum pump and may return to its retracted position under the action of gravity and/or of a return spring 22 in the absence of suction, whilst it is raised by suction to its elevated position and drawn down by suction when sealed by contact with a sheet. Holes 5 may be connected to a suction source to assist in holding the sheet against member 1. The gripped sheet may be forwarded under a guide plate (2, Fig. 1, not shown).
