Abstract
1,149, 899. Flux composition; hot dipping in aluminium. T.K. GHOSE, R. DUTTA and REGISTRAR OF JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY. March 22, 1966, No. 54349/65. Headings C7F and C7M. A flux used in a process of coating steel with aluminium or aluminium alloys consists of 10-30% NaCl by weight 5-25% LiC1 " " 10-70% NaF " " 5-40% KC1 " " 0À05- 5% ZnO " " 5-30% A1F 3 " " A modified flux may also contain up to 65% of potassium bifluoride, up to 5% potassium fluotitanate, up to 10% zinc chloride and up to 3% of an emulsifying agent. The flux may be applied to the steel as an aqueous suspension or as a powder with a wetting agent. The fluxed steel is dried and then hot dipped in Al or an Al-Ti, Al-Mn, Al-Si, Al-Si-Ti, Al-Mg alloy. The coated surface may then be anodized.
