[Also in Division A1] A valve arrangement for use in a poultry or livestock drinker comprises a shut-off valve V coupled to the drinking cup and a check valve filter F coupled to a pressured water supply. When the two valves are closed, as is normally the case, a body of water is trapped in the chamber 18. On displacement of the actuator 55 and attached valve pin 30 the valve seal 40 is pivoted on the valve seat 20 so that water gushes through opening 19 lifting baffle 50. At the same time the filter rod 65 moves upwardly until it strikes the valve pin 30. On release of the actuator 55 the shut-off valve V closes so stopping the flow of water and the filter rod 65 drops back into the position shown in Fig. 3. The reciprocal movement and misalignment of rod 65 works out any accumulation of foreign materials.
