Abstract

1,149,660. Switchgear structures; fluid blast switches. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 22 June, 1967 [1 Sept., 1966], No. 28884/67. Heading H1N. A puffer type circuit breaker 11 such as that described in Specification 1,149,585 forms the movable part of a vertically withdrawable switchgear. The circuit breaker 11 is mounted on a trolley 9 flanges 9a of which co-operate with a pair of parallel rails 20 which can be raised, to bring isolating contacts 3, 4 on the circuit breaker into engagement with fixed contacts 5, 6, by means of four screws 154 driven by a motor 154. Interlocks (not shown) may be provided to prevent operation of the circuit breaker during raising or lowering and to prevent raising or lowering while the breaker is closed. The switchgear is mounted in a metal housing 2; a plurality of housings 2 may be mounted side by side in a suitable building (Figs. 31-34, not shown). Current transformers are arranged to surround the bushings 25, 114 in the raised position of the circuit breaker.
