Abstract
1,149,016. Crystallized-glass bodies. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. 24 June, 1966 [25 June, 1965], No. 28533/66. Heading C1M. [Also in Division H5] A shaped crystallized-glass body is produced by (i) fusing together crystalline oxide materials having high electrical insulating capacity and high temperature resistance, so as to form a glass which is (ii) powdered, (iii) compacted, and (iv) sintered below the normal sintering temperature of the oxide materials, crystallization occurring during sintering. The composition may comprise SiO 2 and at least two of Al 2 O 3 , MgO and CaO. The sintering temperature may be 800-1000‹ C. A metal element may be embedded in the powder before sintering. In electric hot plate 1, e.g of grey cast iron, heating conductor 4 is embedded in glass powder 3. An electric conductor 6 passing through a wall 8 under thermal stress may be insulated by a crystallized glass body 7.
