Abstract

1,148,413. Crushing cylinders for fibre-containing plants. SOC. COLLETTIVA ADRIANO GARDELLA & F.LLO. 31 July, 1967 [1 Aug., 1966], No. 35119/67. Heading DIN. In a decorticating and defibrating apparatus comprising two contra-rotating, axially corrugated, crushing cylinders 9, the peripheral speed of rotation of the cylinders is substantially greater than the feed speed of the feed means, e.g. two fluted, co-operating cylinders 5, 105. The feeding cylinders and crushing cylinders are geared together and also to the drive of a conveyor belt 11. The grooves 209 of the corrugations are wider than the projections. The crushing cylinders are supported apart such that a projection of one cylinder does not reach the bottom of the corresponding groove of the other cylinder nor strike the sides of that groove during rotation of the cylinders. The upper feed cylinder 105 is downwardly biased by spring 8 towards the lower feed cylinder the material to be crushed being fed to the cylinders through a hopper 4.
