Abstract

1,148,233. Reciprocating pumps; fuel systems. BORG. -WARNER CORP. June 21, 1966, No.27728/66. Headings F1A and F1B. In a fuel supplying system including a pump 10 and a supply tank 56, a vapour separating device 13 associated with the pump comprises a cavity 51 in communication with the supply tank through an inlet 52 for liquid fuel and float controlled port 55 for the return of vapour. The cavity 51 has an angularly offset chamber 51c extending downwardly therefrom and communicating with the pumping chamber 31b through a valve 45. The wall 53 between the vapour return port 55 and the valve ports 54 acts as a barrier to prevent the passage of vapour through the valve ports to the pumping chamber. The valve member 45d of the valve 45 is an annular spring. The pump 10 is identical with that described in Specification 1, 140, 073.
