Abstract
1,148,098. Measuring density. SOC. NATIONALE DES PETROLES D'AQUITAINE. Oct.21, 1966 [Oct.21, 1965], No.47392/66. Heading G1S. A high-pressure measuring cell suitable for weighing highly compressed gases and corrosive fluids in density measurements, comprises a cylindrical sheath 1 of stainless steel, sealed at one end by a stopper 2 and at the other end by an inlet valve 3, the ratio K between the external and internal diameters of the sheath being a function of the maximum filling pressure according to the formula: where P is the maximum pressure of use in bars, and E is the co-efficient of elasticity of the material constituting the sheath in kg/ mm<SP>2</SP>. The inlet valve comprises a body 4 threaded into the cylindrical sheath, the inside of the sheath communicating with the source of pressure through bore 7, aperture 8, side channel 10 and screwed connection 11. A needle 12 having a truncated end 12" closes communication between aperture 8 and chamber 9, the rear end of the needle being connected to a rotatable handle 21.
