Abstract

The focimeter of Specification 1,140, 352 is provided with a marking device for indicating the centre and horizontal axis of a spectacle lens under test, said device being carried by a clamping device, which holds the lens in position, so that the magnitude of the marking movement of said device is substantially the same regardless of the thickness of the lens. The clamping device comprises a small finger P<SP>1</SP> supported by an arm P on a carriage N movable parallel to the optical axis. A member Q mounted for limited sliding movement on the carriage N supports a pivotally mounted U-shaped member R which in turn carries a series of marking elements S. The marking device may be swung between a marking position in front of the lens and an inking position adjacent an ink pad N<SP>9</SP>.
