Abstract

[Also in Divisions A4 and B1] A proportioning plug valve comprises a cylindrical plug 55 bearing two parallel passages 143, 145, two check-valve controlled liquid inlet passages 147, 149, and a single outlet passage 161. Either of the inlets may be placed in sole communication with the outlet, the other being occluded by the valve plug body, or (as shown) both may be placed simultaneously in connection with the outlet, the proportions of the two liquids in the resulting mixture being determined by the rotational position of the plug which has at one end a handle (157) and index (159), (see Fig. 1, not shown). In a beverage dispensing apparatus (see Figs. 1 and 2, not shown, and Divisions A4 and B1) a plurality of such valves are used in conjunc. tion with manifold blocks M which can be assembled end-to-end to provide manifolds 33, 41 through which carbonated and plain water respectively are supplied for mixing together in proportions predetermined by the valves 55 before the addition of beverage syrup.
