Abstract

1,147,055. Ingot moulds. FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd. 23 May, 1967 [15 June, 1966], No. 26632/66. Heading B3F. A big-end down ingot mould comprises a body portion 1 and a bottom plate 2, the bottom plate having an upstanding platform 3 with tapered walls to fit into the bottom of the body portion, the bottom plate being separated from the body portion by a spacer block 5. The bottom plate has a concave depression 4 in its upper surface and is provided with a seal 6 between the upstanding portion and the inner periphery of the bottom of the mould formed by a refractory composition. Examples of a suitable composition are given in the Specification.
