Abstract

1,146,895. Endless conveyers. B. WESTBROCK. 18 May, 1966, No. 22183/66. Heading B8A. A conveyer belt arrangement comprises a first horizontal endless conveyer belt 2 the useful length of which is adjustable and a second endless conveyer belt 3 the inclination of which is adjustable upwardly from a horizontal position. The belt 2 passes around front and rear pulleys 19, 20 and two intermediate pulleys. The pulley 20 is at a lower level than pulley 19 permitting the conveyer 3 to lie level with the conveyer 2 when the former conveyer is horizontal. The belt 2 changes level as it passes around the intermediate pulleys. The end pulleys 19, 20 are mounted between side supports 16 which are longitudinally slidable between rollers on a sliding guide 9, 13 rigid with a basic frame 4, 5. The upper run of the belt 2 is supported by rollers mounted on movable supports which are interconnectible by links which maintain the rollers spaced equidistantly as the useful belt length varies. A spring tensioned parallel linkage arrangement movable by an eccentric attached to handle 32, locks the supports 16 of the conveyer 2 in any of its adjusted positions by engaging a keyway on the sliding guide 9, 13. The conveyer 3 is pivotal about its lower pulley adjacent the intermediate pulleys of the belt 2, by means of a pair of members 38 pivotal at one end to the frame of conveyer 3 and at the other end connected to the basic frame for movement horizontally therealong. The latter movement is effected by a pinion and handle 43 engaging a rack connected to the end of the member 38. The upper end portion of the inclinable conveyer 3 is downwardly tiltable and rigidly lockable thereat by means of rods pivoted to the main part of the conveyer 3 and variably clampable to the end portion. Both belts 2 and 3 are driven from a common motor.
