1,146,782. Stranding machines. KABEL UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 28 April, 1967 [29 April, 1966], No. 19653/67. Heading D1T. The invention relates to storage stranding machines of the type in which after the material from reels 6 has passed its stranding point it passes back and forth between spaced sets of wheels 4, 5 rotating about the stranding axis. When the storage stranding machine is full its rotation about the stranding axis is reversed. According to the invention the apparatus includes means 8, 10, 11 for determining when the rotation of the sets of wheels 4, 5 about said stranding axis shall be reversed. The means 8 may be a roller having a coding system on one face, said coding system being monitored by a sensing device feeding a control unit 10 which controls a drive 11. The coding system may be a multidigital code. The roller 8 may be replaced by a take-off device in the form of a continuous band and the digital coding system may be provided on the hand.
