Abstract

1,146,572. Hinges; releasable fastenings. TRANSHANDLING Ltd. and PREMIER SPRING CO. Ltd. 16 Feb., 1967 [23 Feb., 1966], No. 7963/66. Headings E2A, E2B and E2F. A spring loaded clip providing a hinged releasable connection between two panels, consist of a pair of rectangular plates 1 and 2 each having their opposite parallel side edges bent into semicircular grooves 6 and 7, with a securing spring 10, also rectangular, with opposite partial tubular enclosures 12 and 13 holding the plates in face to face relationship, the enclosures embracing the combined grooves so that the latter are complementary to form cylinders enclosing rods 17 of the frames of panels 16. One edge of the plate 1 has two tongues (not shown) in its grooves 7 which locate in corresponding recesses in the matching groove of plate 2. The tubular enclosures 12 and 13 of the spring are only partially closed, having a gap along each edge for release and re-assembly of the clip (see Fig. 7). The ends of the plates have outwardly extending flanges 15 for longitudinally locating the spring. The plates are preferably metal pressings and the spring is formed of spring steel strip.
