Abstract

1,145,426. Spray producers. N. R. ANDERSON. 12 Feb., 1968 [13 Feb., 1967], No. 6791/68. Heading B2F. [Also in Division E1] A nozzle for spraying 'a solid-laden liquid or semi-liquid substance with the assistance of a blast of compressed air or other gas provided by an orifice 32 which is located in a chamber 1 said chamber having an inlet 14 to receive said substance under pressure from a source of .supply, comprising a flexible side 35 for said chamber, in said side an outlet hole 54 which located adjacent to and in line with said orifice so as to enable said blast to project outwardly from said nozzle, around said orifice a seat 58 which is spaced apart from said side by a slot while said nozzle is spraying, said slot providing a path for some of said substance to flow from said chamber into said blast, and means for moving said side relative to said seat whereby said sulsiance in contact with said side is sufficiently disturbed to deter clogging of said nozzle. The side may be a rubber sheet having its edge clamped fluid-tightly to the chamber, the outlet-hole therein being supported by a ring 49 clamped to a lever 41, which is connected by a pivot comprising a resilient pad 43 to the bracket 38, the lever being adjustable relative to the bracket by the screw 47. Preferably the orifice and slot are so adjusted that a vibration is set up by the gas blast.
