Abstract

1,144,929. Yarn cones. SIMA PLASTICS Ltd. 14 Aug., 1967 [20 Oct., 1966], No. 46958/66. Heading B8M. An imperforate yarn cone 10, the outer surface of which is formed with ribs 11, 12, roughened or otherwise formed to increase the coefficient of friction thereof as compared with said surface being smooth, is characterized in that it has, on its inner surface, a helical protrusion 13, for co-operative engagement with a complementary formation on a conical spindle. The helical protrusion may be continuous or discontinuous and is preferably in the form of a raised rib or bead. The cone is preferably made of plastics material, e.g. polystyrene or polypropylene, but may be made of compressed paper.
