Abstract

1,144,569. Cooling reactors. UNITED KING- DOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 1 June, 1966 [9 June, 1965], No. 24459/65. Heading G6C. The fuel channel 11, of a nuclear reactor is provided, downstream of the fuel element, with a coolant sampling chamber enclosing a thermocouple 18. The cooling liquid is mixed during passage through the orifices 14. Six subdivisions of the mixed coolant pass along sampling pipes 15 and enter 16 after which they are further mixed in passage through orifice 17. A fission product detector may be provided in addition to the thermocouple 18.
