Abstract

1,144,551. Skirtings. ALCAN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT. 17 Feb., 1967 [18 Feb., 1966], No. 7329/66. Heading E1B. An extruded aluminium skirting 11 is fixed to a wall by clips 1 of the same material, each with a vertical arm 4 spaced from the wall over which the skirting 11 is clipped by a down-standing arm 15. The arm 15 may, as shown, have a tooth 16 which engages with serrations 6 on the arm 4, although the tooth may be on the arm 4, and the serrations on the arm 15. Either or both (as shown) of the edges of the skirting 11 may carry e.g. P.V.C. buffer strips 14, or be formed simply as a pivoted rib (Figs. 2-4, not shown). Alternatively, the lower edge may be formed to project away from the wall and contact the floor at a tangent (Fig. 3, not shown), to help, e.g., to hold down a carpet. The clips 1 may be formed with a further vertical arm 8 (as shown) so that, e.g. electricity cables may be carried in the channel between arms 8 and 4.
