Card clothing in which the working surfaces at least of the teeth have an average roughness height rating of at least 63 and preferably of at most 500. Suitable surfaces may be machined or milled. The card clothing may be flexible clothing with U-shaped wire teeth embedded in a flexible foundation or may be metallic clothing punched from a metal strip.
