[Also in Division E1] A rectangular section foundation wire for card cylinders on which card clothing is wound, has alternating thick and thin portions along its entire length providing oppositely disposed undulating surfaces. Preferably, the sizes of the thick and thin portions are uniform along the length of the wire. The wire can be made of aluminium, magnesium or titanium, or a non- metallic material.
