Abstract

1,152,272. Making electric motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC & ENGLISH ELECTRIC COMPANIES Ltd. 10 Jan., 1968 [12 Jan., 1967], No. 1758/67. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H2] The bearing brackets 6 of a shaded-pole motor are formed of ductile aluminium alloy and are provided with two hollow bosses 8 which are fitted into holes 9 in the stator. The bores 10 of the bosses are tapered so that when a punch 11 is inserted, the outside is forced into secure contact with the laminations. The holes in the bosses may be used to mount the motor. It is stated that the pressure between the bosses and their holes may cause pressure-welding. Moreover, the edges of the laminations are chamfered and this provides keying. This keying may be improved by giving some laminations bigger holes than others.
