Abstract
1,144,464. Dynannometers, weighing apparatus, indicating apparatus. S. A. TELL and A. B. TELL. April 22, 1966 [April 27, 1965], No. 17760/66. Headings G1J and G1W. In a load indicating device comprising a casing 1 attached to a dial indicator 51, a draw-rod 7, when under the action of a load, is displaceable in the casing 1 against the action of a plurality of annular, conical, disc springs 12 and is connected through a transmission member 23 and an axially movable spindle 30 to effect rotation of a pointer 41 of the indicator by an amount proportional to the load. The axially movable spindle 30 which is supported by bearings 32 in a fixed tube 53 which inter-connects the indicator 51 and casing 1 is provided with a screw-threaded end portion 31 which engages a rotatable sleeve 39 fixed to the pointer 41, the spindle 30 being biased by a spring 38 away from the indicator 51. The transmission member 23 which effects axial movement of the spindle 30 proportional to axial displacement of the draw-rod 7 under the action of a load comprises, in the embodiment shown, a holder 21 attached to the draw-rod 7 and provided with a pivotally supported, sloping arm which is spring urged towards an adjustable abutment 26 on the holder 21 and which is arranged to abut a roller 29 mounted on the end of the spindle 30 remote from the threaded portion 31. In an alternative embodiment, Figs.3 to 6 (not shown), the transmission member comprises a vertical bar (93) which is movable in holes in an extension (53a) of the tube (53) and which is spring urged towards the draw-rod (7), the bar (93) being attached to an adjustable plate (93a) which is provided with an abutment surface (24) for engaging the roller (29) on the spindle (30). In both embodiments a spring 16 acts as a resilient protective stop. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 743, 288.
